Senior Pastor

PPMarc2

Marc was born in Portland, Oregon. He has traveled extensively, but until a few years ago, the Pacific Northwest had always been home. In 1989, he had the opportunity to be part of an outreach team to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The outreach in Mexico was significant in Marc’s life because he saw first-hand the power of the gospel. By observing others on the mission’s team, he also learned what it means to be a servant-leader. It was during this time in Mexico that Marc first felt God calling him to vocational ministry.

Shortly after his return from Mexico, Marc quit his job as District Employment Manager at U.P.S. and moved to Canada to attend Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. He enjoyed attending Regent, especially those classes taught by J.I. Packer and Bruce Waltke. While living in Canada, Marc completed an internship with the Children’s Ministry at Broadway Tabernacle. After graduating from Regent with a Diploma in Christian Studies, Marc spent part of the spring and early summer attending the Institute of Holy Land Studies in Israel.

Upon returning home from Israel, Marc attended Western Seminary in Portland, OR, where he had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Assistant in Theology for two years. Marc received a Master of Divinity degree from Western in 1994 & then began to pursue a Master of Theology degree.

During that time, Marc served as a curriculum writer in the Children’s Ministry at his local church, as well as leading a Singles’ Bible study. Marc joined the pastoral staff in 1993, as an Associate Pastor. 1993 was a great year for Marc, as he married his lovely wife Candace and realized his long-time dream of working full time in ministry.

Marc has served as a pastor in a variety of ministries including: College/ Career, Singles, Couples, Home Bible Studies, Evangelism & Pastoral Care. Throughout his ministry he has been actively involved in missions, counseling and discipleship ministries. He has taught at Western Seminary, as well as a variety of churches, schools and retreats.

Marc had been the Senior Pastor at FBC for nineteen years and he loves being part of what God is doing in this wonderful church.

Marc and Candace enjoy ministering together, especially in the area of discipleship and hospitality. They have a genuine love for people and share a mutual passion for helping others grow in their personal relationship with the Lord.
