A Time to Remember and Give Thanks

I would like to direct your attention to a passage that teaches us what real love looks like. As you will see this love isn’t based on sentiment, it’s a love of active choice, one that is not dependent on favorable conditions. This is a love that gives of self to serve others.

Therefore when he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glo- ri ed, and God is glori ed in Him; if God is glori ed in Him, God will also glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him im- mediately. Little children, I am with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, now I also say to you, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:31-35

Jesus was hours away from His death, it was an intimate time of fellow- ship with His disciples and those closest to Him and Judas had just left the upper room to betray Him. The departure of Judas from the upper room initiated a sequence of events that would result in Jesus’ death and glori cation. So Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glori ed, and God is glori ed in Him.” The word now indicates the process of glori ca- tion had commenced. Read more...
